DREAM Center Symposium - Call for papers!
The DREAM center will host a symposium at SUNY Polytechnic on April 3 2026 to address the cultural shift that is occurring in the way we use digital technologies, with the advent of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and Large Language Models (LLM), which is akin to the cultural shift from Web 1.0 to Web 2.0. What are the societal consequences of this technology? How is creativity and communication affected? Generative AI and LLMs provide a case study for how we deal with new technologies, as creators and as educators.
We invite abstracts for papers, which will have the potential to be included in a special edited book that will address the intersection of art, technology, and society. This book is intended to examine the role of the arts in the 21st century in education and in society at large as new technologies become integrated into our cultural norms.
We are interested in the following topics and themes, explored across any of the three buckets of academia (research, teaching, or service):
- Innovative approaches to education that integrate interdisciplinary methods from the arts into STEM, humanities, and general education.
- Transition to a world with AI: strategies for using (or resisting) AI. What are ways in which we can use it ethically and creatively?
- Other ideas welcome.
To learn more and submit an application, please see our detailed call for papers.
